Help in an emergency

Emergency call: +49 112 for ambulance and fire brigade

In the event of accidents, fires or danger to life. For example, in the event of a heart attack or heatstroke. 

When making an emergency call, give the following information:

  1. Where is the accident?
  3. What happened?
  4. How many people are injured?
  5. What kind of injuries do they have?
  6. Wait for further questions. Do not hang up!

Reporting a fire

The fire brigade rescues people in an emergency. The fire brigade comes when there is a fire.

If you are ill

Call 116117 for the medical on-call service

Do you need a doctor?

If it is not an emergency and the normal doctor's office is closed, call the medical emergency service.

Provide this information when calling a poison control centre:

  1. Who is affected
    Is it a child or an adult?

    Say: age, gender, body weight

  2. How did the person poisen themselves?
    Say:· · Medicines, Chemicals, Plants, Fungi, Animals, Food, Drugs (read the exact name off the packaging!)

  3. How much did the person take?

    State the number of tablets, drops or other quantities.

  4. When did the person poison themselves?
    Say when the dose was taken and how long the effect lasted.

  5. What are the person's symptoms?

    Describe the signs of illness. Describe the person's condition (breathing, circulation, state of consciousness).
